Inside the Minds of Criminals (Entry #2)

If you're anything like me and have an interest in crime shows, the minds of criminals and why they did they things they did, then you might love the show "Mindhunter" on Netflix! It takes you back to the 70s-80s when psychology research on criminals was a very new concept, and still pretty taboo.

"Mindhunter" focuses on the behavioral profiling of the most notorious criminals, which is what sets it apart from other crime shows. The typical setup for other shows is the chase of the criminal; what the crime was, how it was committed and how the suspect was caught. Joe Penhall, the creator of "Mindhunter," focused on the psyche of the criminals instead; the "why" behind the crime.

Penhall depicted how this area of behavioral science was pioneered, and how it greatly benefits the FBI. The show is meticulously created; from the unsettling depictions of criminals (and the crimes), to the character development of the FBI agents and psychologist, even the love story involved plays a vital role.

"Mindhunter" has been a binge-worthy show in my book!

  1. Mindhunter sounds really intersting! I like that they dive into the brains of the criminals to help better figure out why. It reminds me of my psychology class that I took back in highschool as many of times we looked at how people wrre commiting horrible crims because they had something wrong in some part of the brain, it really interested me, so I think I might just check it out for myself!

  2. This sounds like an intriguing show to watch. It's cool how the director shows and develops the criminals and why they did the crime and develops the FBI characters instead of just leaving them stagnant. I've always been interested in most crime shows but haven't gotten a chance to watch them for a while. Maybe I'll have to start again with this one.
