Self-Care(Entry #10)
I have always been an advocate for self-care and doing what helps you feel the best. I've been on a journey with this for a few years now and it has proven to be really successful for myself. However, one of the most challenging parts is being able to apply the tactics you acquire for self-care while being in a hard time in life.
My family and I have hit a rough spot in our lives recently, and through our healing journey I've been the poster child for staying committed to the tactics I've learned over the years. For example, keeping my routines I've created over the last few years and not just laying in bed hoping the negative feelings will magically go away, getting outside with the fresh air and nature, sometimes I journal (I know that sounds super lame, but it works!), I love to read when I feel like there's no other outlet from whatever is happening in my reality at the moment. That's just a few of the tactics I've adopted. I've even been trying to help my family adopt some of them. While this doesn't take any of the pain away, it certainly does help with the healing and to keep yourself from going down a negative path.
The point of this entry is to encourage everyone to think about adopting this strategy in life. Think about trying to find things that work for you to keep yourself centered and in a good place. The point is to encourage you to do the things that make you feel better, even if they seem ridiculous. Making time for yourself if the most important.
Hello, this was a very interesting blog because I believe that I should also do better on my self care. It was great to read examples and personal experience when it comes to knowing about self-care.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, self-care is crucial to our healing journey and it is important that we take the time for ourselves to do so. This year I have also learned new tactics. I learned that going on walks with my music on really clears my head and calms me down. I too like to read or watch shows, just to escape reality. Another tactic that helps me for some reason is taking myself out to buy a small snack or drink from somewhere! The little things matter and hopefully people have their own ways of being there for themselves! I may not know you but just know you're doing great, it is never easy to get out of that bad habit of staying in bed wishing all the negativity away.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your tips on self care, I think its a very under-discussed topic and it's good to have a list of things that help.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see all 5 entries for the last GP, Shelby. Pretty good new ideas and topics and writing flow. Good visuals. Keep digging into analysis and significance--you are a bit brief at times. Good job getting them done.
